"On the 30th of June, 1807, Jamca "Woods was tried at Nelson, at a speuial aSBiae, on a charge of having on tiie 2nd of October, 1896, murdered one Samuel WoodB, a blackBrnlth, by shootinB hiin through the body in his smithy, lie was convicted of the charge, and sentenced to be executed. The evidence at the trial tended to eliow that the acuuaed was a stranger in Nelson, without money, and without any lised place of abode.
